Outside Toilets How I Love Thee

…let me count the ways…

… none..

I will not use them if I must,

I will not use them else I bust,

I’d rather hold on like a dam,

I will not use them Sam you am.

(o.k…. I did add the “unsafe” sign myself)

…and if I really have to….. really, really have to…

…I’ll take a pen to take my mind off the “unpleasantness”…

…this facility is the only down side of visiting my good friend Dee on the weekend…

…sometimes the door needs to be cleared of wind blown sand (and once, a sea lion!) before you can open it…then when you’re in you can, oft times, be confronted with great dunes of gritty beach leavings that need to be swept aside before you can be seated …and then there is the resident cloud of flies that can reach plague proportions at times…. (don’t mention the spider….do not mention the spider) ….not an environment conducive to tasks that need to be actioned urgently….

I am a country boy , but there’s a reason I moved to town…. indoor plumbing.

Spaced Out

…a bunch of astronauts getting buzzed by a burning skull & cross bones….

…on a background of parallel lines drawn free hand?….

 

…the lack of nicotine is strong in this one.

A Cunning Disguise

…blistering hot for last week here in the Riviera of the Antarctic, Dunedin, where anything over 15 degrees Celsius is considered to be caused by global warming..

…it’s so hot I’ve taken to not wearing shoes in the shop… and before the smart asses chime in, no, I don’t have stinky feet….never have… (although, post cig’s, with a returning sense of smell I might be making myself a liar on that one…)…

… it’s so hot I’ve even had to change hats… the only one I’ve got that isn’t in cool-rekkid-shop black is my anonymity hat…it’s the only hat I have with the nice breathy-mesh stuff at the back…

… what in the blue blazes is an anonymity hat???… yeah, I can hear thinking that….

…simple…

…when you habitually wear the “same” clothes, day in day out, in a reasonably public capacity (Black Hat, Black T, Black Hoodie, Blue Jeans, Steel cap boots….work in the record shop) for as many years as I have,people do not recognise you if mess with your “uniform”….

….wearing the hat above and an army surplus khaki shirt I’ve walked, in a straight line,  to within 2 metres of a very close friend without them recognising me!… he wasn’t even one of my blind/unobservant friends …

…to save confusion amongst my regular customers, I’ve transferred the official Too-Tone skull & cross-bones tie pin onto  the anonymity hat for the duration of this heatwave.

…its pouring with rain and the guy who “administers” the near derelict buildings across the street, has been taking photos of the interior of his lean-to shed…. for over an hour…and now he’s taking photos of …. me?…

 

…he’s doing it again!!!….

 

….I hope he likes what he sees.

Onward Smokin Soldiers

….marching off to war, with a gaggle of boozers going on before….

(to the tune of “onward christian soldiers”)

 

…. this one was taken from a beautiful poster of Russian soldiers marching into battle with the spirits of the revolutionaries behind them in the clouds….

…kinda got it in my head that cigarette smokers were fighting a similar battle to drinkers from the prohibition era….

…and we all know how well that worked, don’t we?

 

 

Dee Gotta Ow

…. my good friend Dee slipped and fractured her wrist….

 

… not a condition conducive to playing her preferred instrument… 

…. so we got her making sounds with this 2 string diddly bow my cousin Phil made me whilst in the UK (Hi Phil!)…

…nope not quite…

… a little better with a crescent spanner…. but hard to get any sort of grip at that angle…

…still she can make some noise…. nobody’ll get hurt if she can make some noise…. right?

…right?…

…. anybody got the bass equivalent of a lap steel guitar I can borrow before she starts  to express her creativity by means that may not be good for our health?..

…please hurry…

Nz Musicians In Wigs

…supposedly these guys are relatively world renowned… and have had long careers in the music industry… 

… you ‘d think they’d know better than to let me convince them to don red wigs and take their photo…

…. if members of the Heazlewood or Gutteridge fan clubs  would like to come and collect them ….

…while they are good at providing in store entertainment they do take a bit of feeding and we may be forced to sell them to defray costs…
