No I Have Not Read It

…found this at the Tip Shop the other day…Scan 69

… the content doesn’t live up to the marvellous cover though… within a few paragraphs it became apparent that it was written by someone whose grasp of science fiction was not that which is possessed by fungus crazed, smock wearing, alternative reality mongering, bald, green, zombies from some long lost episode  of Star Trek (original series)….

…shame really… it’s even got a flying lizard on it.

Found Art

…haven’t mentioned my favourite shopping destination for quite some time…

…lets hear it for the Tip Shop… provider of momentary pleasure from other folks trash…

…or, if you’re there at the right time, source of retro wall coverings…

…in oil…

…or ceramic….

IMG_0816

…or wood and fibre…

IMG_0819

…or, if you’re lucky, acrylic on silk…

IMG_0818

…they only come in shades of blue and brown though….

…at these prices you cannot complain and should organise your decor accordingly.

Just Say No

….when election time comes…Scan 76

…and from the sketch book…

Scan 81

…post cigarette resentment of politicians builds….

…had to take it out on someone…..

…rather “them” than those close at hand.

Fishrider Visit

Ian from Fishrider records was in on the weekend…

…. he showed me an “innovative” way to merchandise collectable NZ music…

IMG_0844

…have had to disagree with him and would humbly suggest that this method is far more affective…

IMG_0847

….you have to be able to see the logo on the t-shirt, Ian!

…and not putting 3-400 bucks worth of kiwi music on that dirty floor should also be considered an integral part of clinching that triple figure sale.

(…might just be my imagination, but every time Ian visits the shop, another post appears on the “unauthorised-too-tone-records” facebook page…

…he couldn’t be responsible….

…could he?…)

Parliamentary Coconut Shy

…roll up, roll up… knock the politician from his perch and win…Scan 75

…and the original sketch…

Scan 80

…which, yes, contains rifles…

…thought it wise to leave them out because I didn’t want to be seen to advocate what has always puzzled me in this country….

…with all the moaning we do about them how come we never shoot the buggers?

Kids In A Candy Shop

Noticed these guys on the “unauthorised-too-tone-tribute” face book page… clutching bags of goodies and not telling each other that the proprietor was pulling faces behind them….IMG_0821

…have to say they were better behaved than most…

…but it could have been different if Reverend Jim had been leaning too far over this box of goodies….

…Mr Langston had to jump around a bit and almost stand on tippy toes to see what was in there….

…what was in there?…

…considering the good gentleman’s dabblings in the world of early NZ music fanzines (and the noises issuing from them as they flicked thru) they may be the most qualified to comment…

…or come on down and have look for yourself….our friendly staff are always more than happy to help.

Found And Lost

…you’ll all be relieved to know that my good friend Jungle Fari turned up safe and well on Thursday… he’d been playing some gig up Karamea way and hadn’t thought to keep me fully informed….

…and any one knowing the whereabouts of Mr. Heazlewood please get him to call in to our menswear department and take the load off our harried staff who, even as we speak, are being run ragged with inquiries as to the well being of his underpants….IMG_0830

…I know it’s uncool to post pictures of screen shots but, hey, how often do your search engine terms read like this?

For Christchurch

…even though I don’t live somewhere that has fallen down, I know a lot of folk that do…

…post earthquakes I did more than my fair share of trauma counselling…unpaid…unacknowledged…unnoticed…

…customers… they unload… I don’t mind doing it , but I can’t charge for it….

…you soon develop a healthy distaste for anything your government is allegedly doing to alleviate peoples suffering…Scan 72

…..and here’s the original visual rant…

Scan 77

…fat guys in suits….this may become habitual.
