The Beginnings Of The Big Secret Project

…or “How To Stall For Time When You Haven’t Finished (…finished?…ha!!…barely even started!…) The Fucking Frames Like You Said You Were Going To”…..

…(hem hem)….

…let us reach back, way back, thru the mists of time….

…almost exactly four years ago I had been reading a nice new hard bound copy of the complete works of H.P. Lovecraft (no Frag, no relation to the sauce) and came up with idea that the summoning of elder gods like Cthulhu’s Dad, Yog-Sothoth, was the sort of thing that went on at C.W.I meetings….

….(…lord help me if the my Mother or her cronies at the Country Womens Institute read this….I’ll be straight in the cauldron with the eye of newt….)….

…another (almost exactly again) year goes by and this gets added to the sketch book….

…what can I say…September/October are dark times indeed (with lots of eyeballs) in the southern hemisphere….

…for the next two years I became “distracted” by skulls and crossed bones and flys….

…however…

…on the 27/10/2019 this happened….

…was looking for something a little “calmer” than the Extinction Level Advent Calendar with rotating bugs, as committed to paper at the top at the page (still hoping to get back to that at some point), and had had a retrospective dig thru the sketchbook and thought the eyeballs from the first two images would work nicely as a repetitive motif….

…should of seen it coming really….

…and that was the ten days of brain storming that heralded the coming of the “Big Secret Project” and gave rise to “paintbook”…..

…now it’s another year down the track…. the world is a vastly different place and I still haven’t finished those fucking frames…..

…”paintbook” ??….

…the first rule about “paintbook” is….

… “we don’t talk about paintbook”…

…(maybe next week we could talk about paintbook)….

…(now ….about those frames)….

I needed the laugh! Thank you!
So then art is not linear- even for OCD artists as much as they might try to make it so.
    Brilliant work in any year!

Relooked at this today. Love the progression. And your story telling is stellar. Amazing stuff.
