…flailing ’round for new ideas at a good-idea-impasse in the sketchbook usually starts with an snailtopus…

..and finishes with an old, discarded idea re-visited….

…(‘scuse me while I draw coloured boxes over and over and over again)….

Sketchy LXXXIV

…was trying to get some momentum to cartoon again….

….so have been doing sketch book comics from “found” scripts (the sketch book it is littered with “good ideas”)…

…but it all felt forced and incomplete (blanked when it came to backgrounds!)….

…kinda drifted back to eight legged things….

…and my good friend Dee gave me a coffee table book filled with Indian matchbox art….

…it would appear I’ve found another rabbit hole….

…half way down the first image has me back at my night shift and luxuriating in 15/30/15 minutes of unhindered sketchbook time 5 days a week….

….yussss….

…(not a true return to form…took a couple of days to get used to the freedom of background life!)….

Sketchy XXXI

…top is more snailtopusses (ammonites if you will)…

…bottom is idea that is currently getting a test paint in paintbook (wallpaper rolls already sourced)….

…and some sort of Ferris Wheel whose origins and purpose escape me….did seek out a youtube tutorial to do wire framing for the skeletons and made a couple….one of which ended up in that snow globe thing I did a few months back…

…(must make some more)…

….every time I use “Phil McAndrew’s Big List Of Stuff To Draw”….

…it leads to something “worthwhile”….

…and, yes, I know they are ammonites….

…just kinda liked the name “snailtopusses” better….

…(have also just realised the implications of “Sketchy XXX” as a title for this post and can assure you there is nothing of that nature here)….
