Nope

…I don’t except discount cards from Music retailers that no longer exist….

…even if I did work for them…IMG_2501

…nice try Brett, but no cigar…

…& definitely no freebie.

More Pure On The Shop Floor

…literally…IMG_3269

…grab a copy before they all walk out the door…

…or…. less discerning customers stand on them…

…some may even be orange…

…I don’t think I can get any more.

(personal renditions of the above,  my new poem “Pure for sale”, available on request).

…try this too…

It Could Be Pure Coincidence

…but…

… a delegate from the North East Valley Scraggly Musician League  popped into the shop the other day…IMG_2579

…with a long winded story about the resurrection of some long lost musical gem…

IMG_2517

…of which the last known cassette-only copy was a  victim of a very serious dose of liquefaction during the CHCH earthquakes….

IMG_2519

…all songs lovingly restored from the barely legible liner notes…

IMG_2577

…sound quality checked (and passed) by the hearingly challenged at Too Tone records…

…and finally available on orange vinyl….just in time to pay for Pete’s xmas dinner….

…(make the xmas face, Pete)…

IMG_3036

….hurry whilst stocks la….

…fuck…

…sold out.

…(thank you Pete for letting me check out the test press and bringing me some copies to sell, thank you David for helping Pete liase with non-valley residents, thank you Mick for digging your copy of Pure out of the liquefaction in your Mum’s garage & letting me take photos of it….and  a big hug to the team at 540 records…wish I’d had the forethought to record Pete as he talked me thru the whole thing, track by track (twice)….you could have released a version with commentary…’spose it’s not too late to put Pete in the post…what’s your address?…).

Was He Wearing A Red Wig At The Time

….we may never know…

…David Kilgour, international-dunedin-musician-man-of-mystery, was in the shop the other week to drop in some copies of the  re-released Great Unwashed Lp….

…the only copies he had left had been out to his most recent gig at Chicks Hotel…

…according to David “somebody” had spilt beer in the merch’ box and damaged these must-have artefacts….

…”somebody” then let slip that it was his good self that had perpetrated this unforgivable form of vinyl-abuse…

….how do you get top price for beer soaked goods?

IMG_1733IMG_1754

….simple, you get the perpetrator to confess in….with a Vivid marker…

…instant collectable….

…that smells of beer.

…(and, you may be wondering,  was David wearing the “compulsory” red wig whilst signing said Lps?…he is a very shy & private person, I respect that & could not possibly divulge that piece of highly personal information….

….for less than a tenner).

More NZ Musicians In Wigs

…just when you thought it was safe…IMG_1320

…Mr Heazlewood, through his obsessive use of Farcebook, has been single handedly responsible for more than his fair share of traffic on this sight… for that we thank him…on a recent visit to the shop, he was more than happy to show off his new guitar and associated gurning skills….

IMG_1321

…Mr Robert Scott, local folk musician and artist of international renown(the landscape in the background is one of his) played us some hot licks on the button accordion (audio not available)…. (thank god)….

…I’m assuming he wont “forget” his guitar for the next Too Tone photo shoot….

IMG_0792

… the ever elusive (and very sensible) Mr David Kilgour politely declined to take part in the proceedings.

…(and the real reason for the photos??…rushed out the door with a nagging “there’s-something-else-I-need-to-do” kinda feeling….yup….didn’t scan more ‘toons)….

…normal transmission resumed next Tuesday.

…more of the same…but different….

Nz Musicians In Wigs

…supposedly these guys are relatively world renowned… and have had long careers in the music industry… IMG_0721

… you ‘d think they’d know better than to let me convince them to don red wigs and take their photo…

…. if members of the Heazlewood or Gutteridge fan clubs  would like to come and collect them ….

…while they are good at providing in store entertainment they do take a bit of feeding and we may be forced to sell them to defray costs…

…and if you enjoyed that….try this…
