Paintbook 59/60

…kinda in that uneasy space between finishing something large and trying to start the next one…

…have a screed of notes and colour guides developing around my drawing table in preparation…

…was going to post some more sketchbook only to discover that I’d re-scanned the last page posted thinking it was the one I wanted to put up now…

…had to finish the above (abandoned since January) to get back into paintbook without guilt….

…now I want to do a “good” version to hang!….

…(ah…there’s that next rabbit hole…)….

Regular

Paintbook 50

…7 panels are better than 5….

…7 panels are better than 5….

…7 panels are better than 5….

…7 panels are better than 5….

…(see 2 posts back for 5 panel option)…

Paintbook 47

…still exploring the colour combo’s and tweaking the composition….

….piece finished 20 minutes before I quit my day job…

…(so much happier to be back on nights!)….

Paintbook 45

…and after an eight month gap from the last piece…

….fascinated by the way the light green outline makes the tentacles look a different colour the body….

…(the eight month gap was caused by a big piece I haven’t quite finished yet…working on it…sidetracked!)….

Sketchy LXXI

…a Fat White Jesus on every tentacle…

….now with extra lasers!…

…(lovin the sketch book to bits at the moment…literally…40 odd pages to go and the spine is splitting!)….

…(maybe I shouldn’t press so hard)….

Paintbook 39 (actually 38)

…oops…

…skipped a page…

…the original sketchbook page that this idea comes from clearly states – “one step away from coloured macaroni-puss”….

…yep…

Paintbook 38

…so, in the top left corner of the colour page from the last post there is a stylised representation of what a grouping of the fang-toothed-octopuses-in-a-variety-of-colours would look like….

…I wanted to investigate that further without having to do the whole damn thing and smashed out a couple of small, reversible templates to do this….

….(quietly, very pleased with the results)….

…(and, accidentally, solved the not-so-popular-fang-toothed problem)….
