Set The Accumulation Free Day

…had a more sedate start than I was expecting….

…polite browsing on a Sunday morning seemed to be the order of the day…

…this guy was first thru the (back) door a couple of minutes early and was rewarded for his precociousness….

…this week we’ll tighten “security”…

….another early visitor with a large pile of goodies….

…look at that satisfied grin….

…and I that’s about it for the photos…

…I didn’t take any of the car “low-riding” with 20 crates on board…

…or get any vid’ of folk fossicking…

….maybe I’ll be more organised this Sunday the 11th of July when we drop the next 10 to 15 crates….

…hopefully it will be another goodie for Restore, 7 Gordon St. Dunedin Central…

…(heard we broke their daily turn over record on “opening day” and can’t wait to hear how they did during the week)…

…see you Sunday…

…bring your big wallet.

…(if you just got here, scroll down for photos, vid’ footage and an explanation of the accumulation).

…(did I mention the 10 to 15 fresh crates?).

Big Secret Project V

…I was going to post (again) about the grand first bite of that huge record accumulation at Restore, 7 Gordon St., Dunedin Central at 10.am today….

…but was so excited about “selling” records again that I neglected to take pic’s of my very overladen car or the carefully shrouded, 20 crate lump all ready to table at the store…

…so here’s a picture I painted to look at whilst you wait for the doors to open…

…it’s one of a series of ten I did during lockdown last year…

…(cue elevator music)….

……see you at 10.a.m.

Inovation Inovation Inovation

…there are no more lps to put in the recent arrivals bin….

…everything is now filed in the “General Alphabetical” or its respective “Genre” bins…img_6293…so I’ve invented this…img_6294…Ladies & Gentlemen I give you the “Recent Removals” bin…stock buried in the stacks…passed over (& over) for the last 18 months or so… destined to be thrown to the Trade Me wolves…but maybe worth one more flick thru…

…de-digit your sphincters….

…only 6 more Too Tone days until the end of reality as I know it.

The Moaning Is Over

…for years I’d felt aggrieved after reading an article about a New York secondhand  record dealer, who claimed to regularly find money, joints & tabs (nay, sheets!!) of acid slipped into Lp covers, that I had NEVER found a single “buyer’s bonus”….

…until yesterday….IMG_2375…the drought is over…

…these were stuffed down the side of an apple box worth of 7″ 45s….

…(one is even Too Tone “branded”)….IMG_2376…not joints or acid or cash, I’ll admit, but Dunedin is the Edinburgh of the South.

…(oh… and the moaning?….it isn’t really over).

Destination Destination Destination

…went to the secret location in the weekend….IMG_9273IMG_9275IMG_9277IMG_9268IMG_9267…the weather was Autumn…but I got a feed of field mushrooms…IMG_9280…which went well with the two and a half kgs of bacon I had to make disappear after the fridge/freezer malfunction earlier in the week…IMG_9254IMG_9262…replaced the stylus on the holiday home stereo and dug into my holiday crate…IMG_9263….mucked about in the sketch book….IMG_9266….did some shonky cider powered math….IMG_9247…and made a (second attempt) passable jig for round-frame things…IMG_9281…worked harder than when I’m actually working…IMG_9282….a marvellous break from the shop….IMG_9286…here are some directions to the secret location….IMG_9285

Some Staff Members May Contain Traces

…of boredom….IMG_6119IMG_6120IMG_6121

….original stock card from back in the olden days…(how do they end going out with the records?….I’m looking at you , junior members of staff….)….
…anyone recognise the hand writing?….

…flying knox?…is that a real label?….

….really?

Some Things Are Best Left Forgotten

…take George for instance…

…he once told me that he is a cousin of David Hasselhoff…

…we all had a good laugh and I promptly forgot…

…then, on his next visit, he reminded me of this fact…

…so this time I took a photo….
IMG_6087

…the family resemblance is astounding….

…the way the colour of David’s eyes is an exact match to the colour of George’s ‘hawk….

…spooky.
