…it’s not so much I’ve bitten off more than I can chew…

…as…

…it’s impolite to talk with your mouth full…
…up???…foot???…seaweed???…WHAT?….
…the Otago harbour sometimes does that annoying answer-to-my-question “magic-8-ball” thing…
…also recently washed up on the beach…
…another female sealion on a break…
…that’s the third in as many months (note the tag on the near side flipper…something not present on the other two)…
…nice to see them using the beach so regularly…
….mmm…sealions…..
…wearing the t-shirt you sent me….
…from your favourite record shop in Kansas….
…I’ve blurred your eyes to protect your anonymity….
: )
….(guys, thank you so much for the “t”….unfortunately you remembered me as slimmer than I actually am and I had to relinquish it to my good friend Dee…she loves it too!!…hoping like hell that you don’t follow the blog and that the postcard, pictured above, with the hand written link to this post, will come as a complete surprise….just like the t-shirt did…if you think the blurred pic is too creepy I can replace it with the original or delete it completely…your call…see y’all soon…
Cheers
Tony)
…autumnal colours are aglow in the valley…. …but leaves aren’t the only thing falling…. …I was staring out the window admiring a deluge of swirling orange, yellow & brown leaves when I noticed traffic backing up outside the shop….
…one of two “beautification” trees in the ‘hood came down in the same big equinoctial gust that the leaves were enjoying… …I missed getting a shot of it sprawled across the road because a customer (customers!…with their needs & wants…always getting in the way of “art”!) came in as I was rushing out with my camera…
…it would seem that planting trees in confined, concrete edged, tar-seal surrounded flower beds is not great for their root development…
…snap!
….Cardboard Mailers…
…friend of mine is helping his folks downsize before they move somewhere smaller than the family home….he brought me this box of cardboard mailers that his Dad had “accumulated” when he was a member of the World Record Club, local purveyors of budget music…
…hmmm, pre-decimal postage?….
…didn’t we go decimal just a few months after my family arrived here in 1967?…. (rhetorical…that’s rhetorical)….
…these are “well-curated” for being in the basement for nearly 48 years…
…why, the tape is like it was just cut yesterday…
…and this one appears to pre-date the advent of the World Record Club’s Postal Permit…
….cardboard mailers.
…(cardboard mailers are a bloody important tool in my trade…folks from out of town will spend more if you are able to offer them firm, safe packaging for their purchases….mmmm….cardboard mailers).
…I stare out my windows all day long…
….watching the dirt accumulate on the glass…
…but never have to wash the windows myself (or pay to have it done)…
…because if I wait for long enough the OCD window washer turns up and does it because he can’t bare to see a grimy window….
…the other guy (yep, two window washers, count ’em) does it in exchange for snippets of musical info…
….his memory is worse than mine….
…but OCD guy is definitely the champ…
…he can spot a bird poop from across the street…
…(there, now I can see the trees again).
….first remove motorcycle from fire hydrant…
…(I’ve been walking past this tableau, on the way to work, for a number of weeks now…this is the bike owners best attempt yet at blocking access to a clearly marked fire hydrant….I despair at his/her lack of knowledge of the rules of the road – let alone common sense…sure you’re gonna be outside to shift your bike if your house is on fire…aren’t you?….shall I mention the lack of vigilance on the part of our local law enforcement representatives…naah..they’re probably filling out a report even as we speak…mmm…society…we’re fucked).
