….yes, that’s hand stamped….

…and it’s backwards….

…but this one isn’t….

…and you’d like to read it?….

…ok…

….yep…

…both pieces ruled out in little squares and each letter stamped once left to right then once right to left….

….rinse and repeat….

….2052 characters and spaces per piece….

…took for ages….

…oh, and the paired pieces lean away from their “mirrored” counterparts for two reasons…

…one :- in my mind it gives the impression that the pattern continues beyond the given edge (discovered because the patterns looked to boxy in paintbook)…

…two :- I felt that the larger pen pieces were heading in the opposite direction from what I really really wanted to do….the larger painted pieces!…

….all hung and photographed in procession on the only wall in the house where I wouldn’t have to remove a million pieces of wall baggage to accomodate them (did have to shift the recycled ply hoard…probably shouldn’t have that in my boudoir, but, you know, hoarding!)…or stand on the end of the bed (unmade)…

…now all I have to do is get them out of the house…

…(shit…not much brain space for drawing or posting at the moment…whoda thought telling everyone you’re closing their favourite record shop would cause soooo much chaos…thank the little baby Jesus it’s not  Christmas any time soon….)

…(stamp collection seems to end in 1976 with the Xmas issue of that year…I would’ve been 13/14…mmm….records…..).

…(really in love with that 4 colour ballpoint pen…it’s so messy!).

Can I Have A Stamp

…we used to ask that of shop keepers, bank tellers and dental nurses when we were kids…

…not only was it free “stuff”…

…it was cool to have your ink on your skin…

…we like to accommodate kids at Too Tone Records…

…they’re an integral part of the music buying public……

…and yes kids, Tony will give you a stamp…

 

…a bloody great big one….
