Directionless

…well almost….

…am juggling several small projects (between work days) during lockdown…

…the above is a template for one of those…

…waiting for the paint shop to open again so I can get the last three colours for that enormous piece that needs finished….

…busy, busy, but not blogging regularly….

Use Your Lockdown Wisely

….or not, depending on how much kids craft clay you have….

….this stuff cost $2 at the dump shop and I’m assuming that the previous owner had two packs and ditched the unopened one when they found how difficult it was to work with and how “dead-fish” slimy it was to handle….

..but hey, I had an extra day off presented to me at short notice and couldn’t think of anything better to do with said day, so I persevered….

…(the skeleton is from an earlier “sculpting” session…I suck at 3D….but give it a bash every once in awhile to see if I’ve acquired the skill whilst not practicing….er….that’s a nope on the skill acquisition by osmosis thing…)

…the small white ball at the front is the “change” from the 6 pack…

…the skeleton will be included in the final piece…

..(oh yes, there is a final piece)…

…back to a half day of work tomorrow at 1pm….

…(wish I had more clay for tomorrow morning)…

Fail By Numbers

….the original idea was to take the 50 year old oil paints left over after I replaced their paint by numbers palette with acrylics and revitalise them with linseed oil as suggested on the box, then smash them with the mallet whilst counting loudly, to create an abstract “piant by numbers” pattern….

….we (me & Spencer) didn’t factor in the robustness of the 70s plastic vials that the paint has been stored in all these years….

…we retired to the living room to listen to vintage Italian film music and talk shit in lieu of being “creative” for the afternoon….

…my dreams of being able to repurpose the evil fluids have been returned to the planning department for adjustment…

As I Was Wandering Off To Bed

…I looked out the bedroom window and noticed….

…only stumble across stick insects every once and awhile…

…I know they’re abundant in Dunedin, but they look like sticks….

…so….y’know….

….haven’t seen a brown one in forever….

Outed Grinch

…choosing to be on nightshift can often mean that you are unintentionally excluded from participating in the day to day group activities of a busy, team oriented workplace….

…there’s been considerable excitement at ours about a company wide, branch versus branch Xmas “decorate-the-office-competition” …

…someone even managed to borrow a float from Dunedin’s Santa Parade for group photos….of course they were arranged to take place whilst I would be sound asleep….

…I know I’m renowned for my anti Xmas-spirit…but deep down I’m a competitive bastard and was starting to feel a little left out…..the float was in the shed when I arrived at work and that note on the notice board did say I could shift it if I needed to…..

…so I had my own Santa Parade….

…so little time….so much to do…..

…so you should probably dock me 20 minutes for pissing about, Boss…

…jingle bells…

…(and the photos? ….. taken the next day before I clocked out!)…..

So Sidetracked From What I Was Supposed To Be Doing

…spent a half-hour making the “cradle” for my camera on the end of this….

…um….

…may not be able to grasp it’s original purpose again…

…will get back to you if I do….
